Diary of a Quilt in Progress….

September '05  Dear Diary...

*Dear diary, I’ve found the most AWESOME quilt pattern, I just have to make this one.  It looks a little involved, but I think I can do this.

*Dear diary, went shopping today for fabric for THE quilt.  It was tricky finding 27 shades of purple and a green pin dot, but with the help of the quilt shop lady we were able to get it all together.  Took us an hour and a half to put away all the bolts of fabric though.

*Dear diary, today I read the pattern four times and I’m not sure I’m interpreting the directions right.  Maybe I should sleep on it.

*Dear diary, there was a color-bleeding problem in the washer, I need to get more of the green pin-dot.  Started cutting the other fabrics, have them all stacked and labeled with post-it notes.  It’s getting exciting!

*Dear diary, the quilt shop didn’t have enough of the pin dot left, so spent the day cruising local shops and surfing on-line.  Located some on a web-site, should be here by Friday.  Guess I’ll have to work on the other stuff til then.

*Diary, the cat ran through the stacks of fabric.  Spent four hours sorting squares and the rest of the day hunting for my rotary cutter.

*Diary, the good news is I finally got to start piecing the quilt.  Bad news is I had to unsew half the blocks.  The cheater panels are starting to look pretty good.  Oh! The pin-dot arrived today, it’ll be washed and ready to go tomorrow.

*Diary, this pattern is proving to be tougher than I thought.  Maybe I’ll make half as many blocks and make a smaller quilt.  I need a drink.

*Can’t find my seam ripper.  Used my rotary cutter and cut myself, got eight stitches and a blood stain on my fabric.

*Finished a block finally.  Maybe it will look better with borders.  It’s longer on one side than the other.

*Diary,  one crooked block, bordered, quilted, and bound, donated as a neonatal.  Pattern went in door prize bag.
