I had the coolest thing happen to me yesterday.  I was finishing up some UFOs in my room, just spending the day in therapy.  Well, I quilted up two wall hangings and sewed the bindings on, then dragged all my stuff in the living room to be with the hubby.  Neither of the UFOs had specific destinations, they were just some old wall quilts I had that were taking up space, but if they turned out good enough they’d make nice last minute gifts.  OK, now let’s go over a thing or two here.  First, the phrase “spending the day”…I just love the way that sounds - that was cool thing number one. And then, he drove the kids to and from their events or whatever they needed to go to, came home, and put dinner on the grill.  That was cool thing number two.  (It’s amazing what you can do with a little guilt and a dirty look.)  But here’s the best part – after dinner we were relaxing and I was finishing the hand sewing on the bindings while reading test questions to my daughter and listening to the movie that was on TV.  Now, I know there are some of you who’ve already had this happen, and on occasion it’s happened to me too, but I can’t help but get all mushy.  I was on the final stretch of the first wall quilt, and I had, are you ready? – a perfect miter!!  Oh, it was so pretty, all straight and crisp.  I get all verklempt just thinking about it!  Now you know that quilt will not be a gift for just anyone, no sirree.  That will have to be a special gift, if I’m ever able to part with it.  Even though the other miters were acceptable, none were as precise as that one little corner.  It was really hard to not do a happy dance in the middle of the livingroom.  I finished the binding on the second quilt without another perfect one, but I was happy with just that 12 ½ percent. It was a nice ending to a wonderful day.
