February 08 - Whatever I Want

It’s the best time of the year!  Can you guess why? Not the Packers (though I’m not about to argue anyone about that), not the snow, or the cold.  It’s because the holidays are over, the shopping’s done, the house is back in order, and everyone’s glued to the football games, which means I can do WHATEVER I WANT (within reason).  This time of year is for me, fertile brain time.  My mind swirls with new ideas, designs, techniques that need to be tried.  My cranial light bulb goes on much easier and faster instead of glowing dimly until it warms up enough to cast light into the farthest reaches of my quilting archives.  All it takes is a short segment of a show or glimpse of a page in a magazine to set my head reeling with all the stuff I could do, should do, might do.  It amazes me that with quilting being as traditional and time-worn as it is, it just keeps on evolving and changing, intriguing us with its colors and angles and products.  There’s always something new to try.   Today, WHATEVER I WANT means a little shopping (any time you can build your stash it’s a good day), a little piecing, maybe a little fusible appliqué, who knows?  If I plan it right, I can work in my room early enough to prepare some handwork for in front of the TV for the game tonight.  Anyway you slice it, it’s gonna be a wonderful day.
